A Passion for Nature
The roots of Warren’s love for conservation, the African wilderness and photography can be traced back to his grandfather’s passion, which was infectious! Although he trained as a paramedic in the army and completed a university degree, the pull of the wilderness remained strong, and Warren applied to be a naturalist guide in the late 90s. From his early years at the renowned Londolozi, to later opportunities managing lodges and remote luxury bush camps in Southern and East Africa, guiding has taken Warren all over the continent and beyond.
Aside from being a specialist guide, he has also worked for Animal Planet and National Geographic where he has served multiple roles as wildlife specialist, photographer, and paramedic. In 2017, Warren was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in London.
With just over two decades of guiding and managing lodges across much of Africa, Warren has built up an incredible wealth of knowledge and a well-developed network of contacts, with unique access to extraordinary experiences. His personalised safaris are planned with great care and his knowledge and experience ensure the logistics are practical and well thought out. His passion and enthusiasm for Africa, its wildlife, and people, make Warren a highly sought-after choice when it comes to selecting an African specialist. Warren will take you on a journey and calmly immerse you into the wilderness, allowing you to experience wildlife interactions in their most natural form.
Warren uses his camera to reveal and capture elements and evoke the emotions of the experience in the wild. With the same sensitivity and neutrality applied to his photography, his knowledge, combined with his innate understanding of animal behaviour, adds a further dimension to his safaris as he helps guests to capture their “once (or more!) in a lifetime” experiences. Warren’s photographs have been on display, received accolades and sold on many fora, international and local.
Warren spends much of his time in ecotourism consulting and works closely with conservation organisations, such as African Parks, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and the Elephant Co-operation, to raise awareness and direct funding to successful conservation projects on the continent. Warren is also the African and Global ambassador for Low Season Traveller – an organisation focused on more responsible and sustainable travel.
Guiding is Warren’s primary passion. His positive outlook on life and easy-going nature are ideally suited for his career as a private naturalist guide. He leads safaris from Chad to Cape Town and everything in between, providing his guests with an in depth insight into Africa’s wilderness, people and cultures. The importance of planning a safari, leading it and managing expectations is, for Warren, what makes or breaks the safari. The guide is responsible for all aspects of the journey.
