Andreas Bender

Jamaica
As expedition leader, photographer, location manager for film- and photo productions, scientific expeditions and for his own personal motivations, for thirty-five years Bender crisscrossed the globe from North Korea to Antarctica, from Eritrea to East Timor, from the Marquesas Islands to Mongolia, and got to know them in the most literal sense. He knows Laos, Iraq, Nicaragua and the Congo, Mauretania and Kamchatka, the South Sea Islands and the oases of the Sahara, the Near and Middle East, metropolitan and provincial North America, Greenland and the deserts and primeordial forests of every continent and every state. Andreas Bender has been the anchorman in a TV-series called Travels with Andreas Bender. He is one of the small band of eye-witnesses who seem specially chosen to follow the often arduous path of nations and regions and see them with his own eyes. He calls himself essentially a border-hopper. It is this nomadic life, that makes arrival and departure equally meaningless notions to him. Andreas Bender is a member of the EXPLORER'S CLUB in New York.
