COE RANCH: Hondo Valley, Ruidoso, New Mexico
These are just a few pictures from a Historic ranch located in the Hondo Valley in New Mexico. The ranch is Historical Marker due to the fact that Billy The Kid hid out and worked for the COE family during & prior to the Lincoln County War. This ranch is actually where John Tunstall was taken after he'd been shot and killed which ultimately help spark the war. The old red barn in the photos is where he Billy The Kid lived and kept cover while working the ranch. In a few of the photos you can still see a few of the original spare adobe mud bricks that were kept in stock in the barn that is over 100 years old and has been preserved with cables that still make it stand through even today's harshest winters. If you've ever seen any of the Young Gun movies or have an historic understanding of the Lincoln County War then you'd appreciate this glimpse of history.
Today the ranch remains preserved and still contains many of the original apple trees and various buildings on the property and serves as a safe haven for abused or neglected ex-race horsed. Year round there's abundant wildlife to see, hiking, and even some light fly fishing for nature lovers to immerse themselves in. I'll post more pictures on the subject as time permits.
